New laptop suggestions - Page 2

Thread Starter
The thinkpad definitely doesn't come close on performance.

I have a 64gb SSD I want to put in addition to the HDD into the laptop I buy but it's 2.5''. That should be fine for the 15'' sagar model but I think I would prefer the 13' model with the same hardware and price, but it doesn't have room for 2 2.5' Harddrives, one has to be a mSATA.

Deciding now if I want to deal with selling/buying a new SSD or just going for the 15'.

Thanks again, this was helpful!

Can play DotA2 on medium/low settings easily
Good battery life (Will be needing 4 hours or so of useable battery life to take exams in school on the laptop)
13-16 inch screen is fine.
Don't care about build quality/weight
Prefer optical, doesn't matter that much

I would prefer a SSD for at least the OS but it isn't a deal breaker either way.

My budget is anywhere from $500-1500 but considering that this is a web browsing machine more than anything, it would be hard to justify the high end of the budget.

So far, I've seen this posted:

and it seems perfect with the caveat that the battery life is seemingly ambiguous and it has no SSD

Or should I go with something that has the Haswell for the benefit of the battery life? Otherwise, I can't imagine needing that level of processing power.

Looking for any suggestions, thanks!

That laptop is perfect for you. It say it has 5 hours of battery life, but I think you can increase it a lot more by turning off the dedicated GPU. The AMD APU can still run those games easily without breaking a sweat.

You can try the HP Sleekbook that has an AMD APU.with 9 hours battery life.
However I can't say the design/quality/durability is good or not.
