Little Help Please

Thread Starter
I've been having issues with my computer. Sometimes it freezes up, sometimes i get the BSOD. this happens very randomly. I could be playing a game, or just dragging folders around. When i restart, i send the error report, and it tells me it's a device driver.sometimes it tells me a thread got stuck in a driver, other times nothing at all. I've been through every single driver on my system. I've taken them all off with driver cleaner and reinstalled. I recently RMA'd my video card ( evga 7900GT KO) and evga sent me back a new one. I plugged it in hoping it would fix the problem, and nothing.

little help???

-thx

Did you do the MB's chipset drivers?
Might be a pain, but if you can't isolate it, perhaps a full OS reinstall. Also, you may, if OCed, twek back a bit too being that could be causing the corruption in the first place.

I'd also try a BIOS flash to bring things up to speed. If your clocked GPU or even CPU i'd set back a bit and see if it fixes the problem.

thanks for your suggestions. Unforunately, my settings currently are all factory. No oc'ing on any part of my computer. Also, all the drivers currently running are the ones that came on the mobo chipset's cd.

any other suggestions?

EDIT: also, i believe i've also fully reinstalled xp once before on this computer. It's to the point where i have to call up microsoft to give me a new key everytime i install though. i've gone through a lot of computers to get to this one.

update your mobo chipset drivers from the makers website. That just might be it.

Also, a little off-topic but "SAMURAI CHAMPALOO FANS UNITE!"

I immediately thought bad psu but I believe the Antec should be ok.
Is this a fresh build, or has it run a while before BSOD's?
My guess is old drivers/updated bios for dual core X2/ inaccurate ram voltage, timings set or bad mobo short/grounding error.

this is a fresh build. i've gone the driver route. updating doesnt' seem to work. in some cases it causes even more problems, especially when i tried to install an updated video driver.

about the bios update, timings, voltage, etc.

Info on how? sites?

-thx

I Agree with The Duke here Xanos, But if you are sure you havent overclocked it then maybe thats not the proble. Is it your first build? I can suggest opening your rig up and just make sure that the CPU cooler is 100% clamped in, if its not on tightly enough, it will get too hot which can cause crashes and thermal BSOD's.

Hope this helps.

update your mobo's drivers. update the mobo's bios to the latest. make sure you have your RAM modules in the correct slots. i had a similar problem, it turned out to be a combo of the above.
