A real TEST for the best wizards out there!

Firstly I really am a TOTAL novice....

I successfully built a system as follows....

Gigabyte GA-880-GA Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X6 1055T Processor 2.80GHz
4 x 4GB (16GB) G-Skil Rip Jaw Memory
2GB Radeon Graphics Card
running Windows 7 64 Bit and a total (10 Int & 8 Ext) of 36Terabytes

all through a Technics Class AA amplifier and three monitors
a Panasonic 42" and 2 x Hanns-G HH251 HD Monitors (which are rubbish!)

MY NEXT BUILD has to blow this away!

Height Restriction in the hugeair conditioned workstation I'm going to build is 520 mm max
from the rigid base board up to the underside of the keyboard drawer

so I'm looking at one of the following Caselabs MAGNUM M8 , M10 and/or MH10 Case units.....

I want ideas and advice on the absolute BEST motherboard to do

NO GAMING
HUGE MASS STORAGE (such as the max suggested 24 x 4TB HDD's
likely to be Western Digital Caviar Black's unless advised otherwise
May even be the 5TB if they come out ON OFFER and not such rip off money!

A motherboard CPU and Ram etc that will handle such a massive archive (Vast majority being Audio Visual)

something that will NOT trip up or "Hang" when moving from various drives at the same time
(This is something the current set up likes to do occasionally)

I'll probably not need more than 2 (max) Graphics cards although I'm happy to buy one with 4gb if suggestions tell me so

THE CASE....Really unsure as to which of the three best suits my requirements... plus all the bits and additions that are needed such as carriages for all the hard drives.... (THEY DON'T need to be quick release but that option if it exists is unlikely to make any huge difference in price)
all the above info....motherboard with absolute MAXIMUM 6GB/s SATA III ports
I'm currently guessing the X79 range is where I should be looking... perhaps the long overdue X89 if they pull their fingers out lol

ALL ADVICE greatfully recieved!!!

especially for the best choice of case with all the fan units (incl down front) hdd carriers (absolute max possible)

The room is now air conditioned and the workstation is to be built with a rear void where a gentle vaacuum through two
wall mounted silent extractors is to be built with PLENTY of grills to the sides and back of the pc space so as not to force
any issues with causing any of the case fans to overwork.

I have designed the workstation but am compiling costs for components (ironically the two drawer pedestals with touch release drawers is the biggest outlay as the 10 pairs of runners costs the same as TWO Caviar black 4tb drives lol

Thanks in advance, from me in the corrupt rip off UK to all you skilled build wizards world wide smile.gif

Sounds like a pretty badass system - to put it mildly - lol! What are you going to use it for? Any watercooling plans?

The system I built isn't half bad but room for final improvements.... the micro thingy system rating gives everything in my current built a 7.4 or 7.9 rating which I understand is awesomely high... one 5.9 rating
for the 500giggles PATA full of my artwork creations

No plans on water cooling... air conditioned room,, workstation with ducting and extraction
(gentle so as NOT to force or overwork the case fans...of which there will be as many as fit)

My design for workstation but the mirror top left is now replaced with a 42 inch panasonic

20p3pg.jpg

no gaming whatsoever! (unless I find an emulator thingy that will work on 7 or 8 so I can
do my space invaders thing lol

serious mass storage audio visual.. if It will take 22 HDD's then I'll likely use ALL 4TB
or poss bigger as 5's supposedly due end of year...amybe an intro non silly non rip off price
AND WARRANTY will come with them......... can you tell I'm a DREAMER!!!

it'll feed through a built in speaker system through my home via a Technics Class AA Amp
it will feed three monitors on for tv another for webbywork and a third for..oh say photoshop!

What I NEED is a total list of Caselabs components and TOTAL scary cost for a complete case set up to suit

I'll no doubt use a minimum of 1000 but likely 1200 or 1500w PSU

board...now theres the rub.... X87 pending is the likely choice

CPU MEM RAM n all that guff...took me forever to check all the bits to make my
last (First attempt at) build were compatible with one another

An M8 should work pretty well: 24 drive capacity (plus one bay for blu-ray/dvd) dual PSU, and up to 3 GPU or Dual + Sound card.
