Software for head tracking ingame?

Thread Starter
Hey, does it exist a software that can recognize my head tilting for ingame purpose like this thing?

http://www.amazon.com/TrackIr-Premium-Head-Tracking-Gaming-Pc/dp/B0029M6VKA

Cause i just saw a man trying out a flight sim and used this device. Is it possible to just get a software that uses your webcam for head turning recognition?

This is a very interesting question.

I would check this out

http://eviacam.sourceforge.net/index.php

Alternatively there is this

http://www.free-track.net/english/

It seems that it will do what you want, a matter of fact they specify flight simulators.

The one downside is that it's not as plug and play as you might like, it seems that to use this software you'll need to buy some materials, and customize your webcam with a filter so that it only detects the light from Leds you would put on your self.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/how-tos/how_build_your_own_ir_head_tracker?page=0,1

I'll keep looking for a bit if I find anything else I will tell

Edit: found a few more programs

http://www.dual-ring.net/webcam-mouse-replacement-software/

It's seems that webcam only option without a ir sensor might be too slow for gaming.

Facetracknoir is where I would start if I were in your position. It looks very promising, I like the fact that they have a gaming section on the website. It's also cool that you can chose to use an IR sensor, or just go with a webcam.  I don't know how difficult the installation process is, but it seems to be the most versatile software mentioned in this thread.

Honestly though I don't have any experience with any of the applications I provided.

They are just the results of a quick search into the webcam mouse software. Right now you have 3 or 4 different programs you can look into. You won't really know how they fair until you install them, so i would try them out and see which one is better, starting with facetracknoir
