P5W E6600 OC questions

Thread Starter
I'm currently at 3.1 OC.
FSB 345
Vcore 1.4
temp 43c full load with both core temp and tat

Ram timings
5-5-5-12
690mhz

I can't seem to find the option to allow me to up the fsb without upping the ram with it. Which is why my ram is at 690 and not 800 stock speed. Everytime I try to go for an fsb above 350 I get errors in orthus. I've rasied my vcore to 1.45 and I still got errors with orthus when trying anything above 350. And my temps went to around 54c.

Make sure you don't have any of your RAM settings on "auto" in BIOS. Set the vcore to stock and then set your speed accordingly. If need be, up the vcore to 4.125.

Where you adjsut the FSB, right underneathe is the option to adjust the RAM. Set it as manual I believe it is.

This is how I overclocked my 6600 to 3.51:

Multiplier - 9
FSB - 390
Vcore - 1.525
Vmch - 1.55
vDimm - 1.9 (Ratio 1:1, winds up being 780, Timings 4-4-4-12)
vFSB - 1.9
PCIE - 101
PCI - 33.3

These settings work very well for me. I've established this as my rock solid OC for my rig. So maybe you can use this as a reference your system. But dont jump to these settings and assume itll be fine. Good luck!

Yea, I'd jump to those setting if I had your cooler. I notice your vFSB is 1.9. Mines is only 1.3. Maybe that could be my problem?

I tried started it at default voltage(aka vcore auto) and couldn't even get it to post at the 3 ghz mark.

Thank you for all the help in advance. I might just have to leave it at 3 ghz till I get a better cooler maybe.

Hope its working out for you. I never had any luck with all the "auto" settings in the BIOS. Things always wrked out better for me when I set everything manually.

Yea, auto didn't work for me either. I was just trying to use the default suggesions someone above had given me. Booted with the blue screen of death lol.

Overclocking was easier than I thought it would be. But yet harder than I thought it would be when you run into walls. I suppose a stable 3ghz isn't bad for the first go.

Nah that's not too shabby. Personally, I dont run my system to the max OC all the time. There's really no need to with these CPUs. A little OC is fine with me I always say.

But just keep an eye on your temps as you go along. Thats the main thing that'll kill your system. It's fun isn't it?

Yea, it is fun. Not as scary as I thought. *kills system*. Okay... more scary than I thought. Let me knock on wood after saying that...lol

So why do you have your vfsb set so high?
