The 120Hz BENQ XL2411T can be had for $320 USD from overclockers.co.uk excluding VAT.
With VAT, it's about $360 USD.

You may be interested to hear that enabling the LightBoost for 2D motion, allows it to have less motion blur than a Sony FW900 CRT. Google "lightboost" for more information. Supported LightBoost monitors are listed in the list of 120Hz monitors.

Id go for an IPS if your dad is just viewing pictures/watching movies; something where having a really low response time isnt that necessary.
