Hyperthreading doesn't really do much for games, it's that actual real cores that matter the most for highly threaded games.

Here is one example of that happening with a highly threaded game.

The only thing I call shenanigans about is they should have overclocked a lot more. I mean a 200mhz overclock on an 8350 is a bit on the low end when it is easy to keep stable at 4.4-4.7Ghz and they left it at 4.2

Edit: Also in a few games I have played the games runs better running the 8350 in hex mode instead of running all 8 cores.

I don't disagree with you, but they show all the cpu's performance at stock plus one with the 3960x only overclocked to 4.2ghz. The 8350 is stock with turbo of 4.2ghz.

The relative performance stock vs stock and overclock vs overclock should be the same except for the fact that intel generally has more overclocking headroom. 1.2ghz+ overclocking headroom (3.5ghz to 4.7ghz is a decent OC although 1.5ghz+ headroom 5ghz OC would be not be considered unreasonable) where only a 1ghz overclock (4ghz to 5ghz) is a high overclock for a 8350, you need some good cooling for higher than that.

That is interesting.

Yea, sometimes I will just change the processor affinity on the game to run on cpu cores 0-5 instead of 0-7. Then use those last 2 cores as background processes like firefox, voip, etc.

But a lot of mobos you can just disable the last 2 cores completely. I prefer to just assign them elsewhere, but if you turn those 2x extra cores off, you can overclock much higher. I cant seem to get above ~5.2Ghz with my mobo, but if I disable a bunch of cores, I can take it much higher. I could probably hit 5.4Ghz with 6 cores with the same voltage as I was using for 8 cores clocked lower.

Most programs do not use the 8 cores effectively anyway.

Honestly dude i must say i saw what you need just to run a 9370 i mean its 220 freaking watts to buy it you have to get it in a combo with water cooling H80i cooler , ive seen the passmark results a 4.4ghz 9370 is 9512 on cpu mark while a 3.5Ghz i7 3770k (last generation is 9592 cpu mark and its 77 watts a hyper 212 air cooler will run it cool enough . 9370 cost 349 dollars alone , but you have to buy it in a combo . 3770k cost 305 and you don't have to buy it in a combo , dude just get a 3770k it will run those two 780s no sweat and you don't have to spend a fortune keeping the cpu cool. PLus lets say you want to play the old crysis games on your cpu the fx has a flaw it the chip to where it won't render the original crysis , only the phenoms and athlons will for amd. all the intels will run crysis so the i7 3770k will give you more options to play more games. I'm done with amd i stopped at the 1090T phenom II x6 and the 965 x4 in my opinion their the only reason left to even consider amd

Dude, I guess you are in the wrong thread then, I dare you to get away with that blue babble in the Vishera thread.

FX won't render the original Crysis? I run it quite fine actually, you're just being a fanboy when you say that one

Here too, I am running it on very high settings with my 8350 and an HD 7770 perfectly.

not sure about the FX-8150 but an overclocked 8320/8350 can run SLI without issues I believe.
the FX 9's are just binned FX 8's AFAIK so OP has options but it should do fine too.
no AMD chip is recommended for running more than SLI or CF-X, so dual GPU's only.
I'd have to see some benches of whichever chip you get pushing a pair of GTX 780's though.
should be interesting.
