Am i o.k? NEWBIE query

Hi there...introduced myself the other day in the new members section and after building my rig, left it for a few days before even trying to overclock it....soooooooooo my query is:

I have a 4770k, i've overclocked it to 4.4Ghz and running the Vcore @ 1.15...my maximum temperature on any core has been 69 degrees celcius.

Is this o.k?

Rings set at 3.9Ghz also.

I'm running a corsair h100i on the chip also.

I tried running voltage at 1.1v but it wouldnt boot into windows lol

ran intel burn test 25 runs at very high and no BSOD's...also ran prime 95 for 9 hours yesterday without any errors or crashes.

Just really looking for reassurance to make sure i'm within good measures smile.gif

All answers are greatly appreciated biggrin.gif

After 9 hours of a stress test with it at 69C you should be just fine. You have to think it's not going to be running at 100% very often, and even when it does 69C is still a very safe temp for that kind of stress. thumb.gif

Thank you...i was a bit nervous after reading alottttttttttttt of people over the web complaining they couldn't oc past 4ghz without hitting extreme temps...i'm thinking i got a good chip thumb.gif

I'd say you're safe. I've got a de-lidded 3770k @ 4.5 GHz , HT on, 1.12v, (though with HT off I can reach 5.0 GHz, 1.34v) and max temps are close to 80c. I'd say you can keep going until your max temps hit 80c without having to worry. *hugs* hope you find OCN as fun as I have so far fellow newbie ^.^

No problem I think the max temp on those chips is supposed to be like ~105C, but yea you definitely don't want to go too far into the 80's for too long. You could also delid it as well, here is a link to the forums if you'd like more information

Edit: Definitely pay attention to the warnings though if you intend on doing it.

Hi TheBelsonator

69C max temp at full load is perfectly fine. Its when you get to and above 80C you need to think about getting it cooler. The extreme temps everyone was talking about usually happens at a certain voltage, with ivy bridge it usually happens close to 1.3v. Its due to poor contact between the cpu die and the heatspreader and/or poor thermal paste used on the cpu die.

Nice overclock!
