But yeah, timeout detection's entire purpose is to prevent a complete system crash when a single component locks. When you get those "X driver has stopped responding and recovered" messages that means it did its job!
Oooooohh... So it is definitely the card's fault then? Looks like somebody's going to the oven soon I think...

It still may be worth testing in another rig when you get the chance, just to be 100% sure... but it doesn't sound good. Good luck with the bake if you go through with it!

Yea, I'm going to do that first. I have a backup ATi card with me, could I just throw that in and if it doesn't have any issues than that should mean it's the 9800GT, right?
