I need a USB keyboard.

Thread Starter

I'm in a bit of a fix. I have been using the Mouseman PS/2 and the Dell RT7D5JTW PS/2 since 1997. I have moved to a new motherboard this summer that only supports one PS/2 device. I discovered in the past that putting both on a PS/2 melder caused some missed keystrokes, so I have to give up one or the other of my PS/2 devices.

I am still looking for a suitable replacement for the Mouseman. I may have to buy a used one. But while I am doing that I thought I might look around for a USB keyboard that has the same size and key action as my old keyboard. Is there such?

Thanks.

Which do you prefer more the mouse or the keyboard? I would say that you should stick with the keyboard because there aren't a whole ton like that one anymore and the mouse technology has greatly improved since 1997. Also aren't there PS/2 to USB adaptors? Like this one http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/Belkin-USB-to-PS-2-Adapter/931561.aspx?AcquirgyID=14175109&cm_mmc=acquirgy-_-Google-_-CDW_Extended_Product_Name-_-Belkin_Usb_To_Ps_2_Adapter#PO

Wow that was a long link, anyways I haven't typed on one of those so I do not know how they feel so I guess you will have to just try other keyboards your self.

Sorry about the delay in getting back. Yahoo thought OCN was spamming me and I didn't get any mail.

I went with a dual PS/2-to-USB adapter I bought in 2010 and discarded -- it introduced too much delay. But I thought about it and used it as a one-to-one adapter for my mouse, and left the kb plugged into the PS/2 port. That works like a charm.

Thanks for the suggestion. +rep
