What caused me to crash?

Thread Starter
Earlier my computer crashed while playing Supreme Commander 2. No BSOD, just a black screen and then I had to turn it off manually to get it unstuck. I have a MSI HD 7870 Hawk Edition at stock and an overclocked FX 8320 CPU. My first thought was the CPU, but I just ran it through some Intel Burn Test and it didn't die despite hitting 68C on the CPU and Northbridge.

Only other option if it is not a CPU or GPU problem is if my PSU is going out. I have a Seasonic X750, the latest revision, about eight months old.

Check drivers for your GPU. I doubt is your PSU or CPU.

One crash might not be anything to worry about if it's working fine otherwise. Take your overclock down a notch while troubleshooting though.

My CPU is at 4.4ghz at 1.4vcore. I usually run it at 4.5ghz but i brought it down to 4.4 and it seems more stable at that speed. Drivers are the latest stable ones for AMD.

If this crash is no big deal that's good news. I do however want to make sure it's not my HD 7870. I'm not very happy with the card. I should of kept my GTX 480. I've already had to RMA it twice.

sell that 7870 and get either a GTX 770 OR A HD 7950/7970. Best ones for the prize.
