Haswell is a new platform. You gotta buy a mobo anyways. So buy a platform that suits your needs.

A long time ago. You can OC on almost anything

Yesterday: You can only OC on designated K-edition chips with the correct mobos.

Today: The K-edition chips lack a few features, such as VT-d. Not to mention they're horrible OCers compared to Sandy Bridge.

Tomorrow: OCing only allowed on extreme edition chips, or getting over 4.5 GHz now requires decent water cooling.

But... you failed to note that hitting 4GHz on air was a feat in itself. Hitting beyond 4GHz was unheard of for a long time. Sandy Bridge CPUs were the first ones to manage 5GHz and since then, everyone's forgotten about everything else. If it doesn't hit 5GHz, it's a crap CPU.

4ghz was a norm with LGA1366 and the newer Core2

quite a few LGA1156 chips will do 5ghz, ivy and haswell will struggle to hit that 5ghz and at best a few 100mhz extra ontop of turbo

now you can get 5ghz stock clocks with AMD

Well, to be honest here...certain aspects due to how Intel went about integrating parts into the SB and beyond series really made it difficult to OC them outside of multiplier methods. But the thought that Intel would go out of it's way to limit anyone from OCing a chip is the thing I think most people miss; and it's the thing that should bother anyone. Also, I wonder if the chips without the GPU have any better luck OCing or if the ringbus/shared clock thing really makes it problematic.

Well what the board partners should then do is expand the Z lineup to include micro and mini boards.
Find a way to cross a H and Z together so it is still more affordable and have it as a mainstream Z board with limited features.

Too many chipset families.

Especially when they're selling it for $900, and the i7 costs $350.

These 9590's make the 4770K, even the 3930K's seem like a bargain.
