They need about 100 backers/hour?

Not saying it's impossible, but looks like a big ask.

Make it a 3.5-4'' edge to edge phone, make it dust/water/shockproof, I'd buy. Add a qwerty keyboard, I'd buy in a heartbeat.

Sounds like a good way to get even fewer pledges

I don't know, they seemed to sell PRETTY WELL around this price point. I think they have a chance now, but not for sure.

Doesn't sound like it has a reason to exist. So it probably won't. We have android anyway, which has already proven itself to be way better. This phone just gives off that "ooh look at how cool I am, I haz ubuntu phone" vibe.

I kind of agree, but it's a decent phone at $695. keep android, the sapphire crystal, a decent processor, the big storage. Ditch the ubuntu part. You don't really need 4gb of memory for Android. Give me a bigger higher-res screen instead. biggrin.gif

Once the ubuntu phone comes out someone will put arch or gentoo on it and we'll have a new level nerd elitist phone. tongue.gif

I'm way to integrated with Google services to consider any other phone OS. I'm sure it will work ok with google contacts, gmail etc. but I'd rather have something closer to the source. I mean I use literally every google service it doesn't make sense for me.

I'm sure for someone willing to start from scratch with a new ecosystem it may be a great option.

Ubuntu by default can connect and integrate the majority of the decent services. At least it can with Google, all of my Google documents, Google +, Gmail, etc are set up on my Laptop tongue.gif
