Few question about the HD 7950

Thread Starter
Hello guys!
I finally decided to step up my graphics power and finally finish my sig rig. This HD 6850 isn't just cutting it ,it's making my CPU sad.

I'm thinking of going for the HD 7950.I found a buyer for my GPU so the upgrade would cost me just 400BGN LEV ,which is equal to 267USD,quite low price for Bulgaria.I want to OC the card so it'll get in GTX 770 territory, atleast while the 770 is at stock.
The questions:
1)First of all,is it worth getting the card so late in it's lifespan? Will AMD have new series of GPU's anytime soon, anything worth waiting for? Nvidia isn't an option for me,too overpriced for what you get.Only the 780 is a deal, but a very expensive one biggrin.gif
2)What is the average OC of the 7950? I want to be sure i'll hit 1150core clock atleast,memory..I don't know. Will this be hard or is it the standard OC of the card? Stock voltage i've understood is 1.094V . I'll use the stock cooler .That means 1.15V would be the max to go,woudn't it?
3) What's the chance of the card hitting 1150? Is it something rare or a common OC?I won't go over 1150,that's my goal.
4) Which brand should i get? Here: List of my options Please tell me which one is the best.

here are a few synthetic benches on my 7950 you can compare to this review . . .

http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4632/4/geforce-gtx-700-series-sli-review-geforce-gtx-760770780-in-sli-and-3-way-sli-3dmark11

1100/1575 stock voltage. other 7950s may need more voltage others may go higher without adjusting voltage (luck of draw)

note that review used an i7 3960X.

you may be lucky to reach these clocks . . .

edit: a 7950 @ 1100/1575 is about equal to a 7970 GHz. coming from a 6850 ( i came from 6870), you may not feel the need to oc.

I will always feel the need to OC.It's all about competing with my friends...A friend got a 770 and he runs stock.I want to pay 75% lower price and get his performance. It's all about squezzing the max performance. My 6850(stock 775core clock),i run @ 950-1000mhz . Yea...
According to this review the Sapphire Boost Vapor-X 7950 clocks the highest with a max 1135Mhz OC on stock voltage.I can get it ,is it worth it? Oh and do you think 1150 would be achievable with little voltage increase? Let's say 1.13-5V.Even if i get unlucky?
1150Mhz is my goal,1200+Mhz is the dream though biggrin.gif

can't really help you with that model. all i know is that the boost can be turned off and that will enable one to get a more stable oc. you can ask here, too . . .
