Galaxy S3 Mini battery life

My mother has a S3 mini and when it gets charged up to 100% in the evening, it is at 16% the next evening. Only standby and few messages were sent. Energy saver mode is on, all apps in the background closed, etc.

This can't be right, right?. Flawed battery?

Should I send back (amazon, they'll not deal with parts replacement)?

So it lasts 24 hours and only uses 84%?

Mostly it's turned off at night. I think she had it on over night once.

You're not implying that this is normal? This is horrible. My Samsung cell phone is never turned off and I recharge it every 6 or more days if it is only on standby (no or little use).

I know a smart phone is demanding, but this is quite bad.

Is Bluetooth/wifi turned on? Is she in a low reception area?
That is fairly unusual if she barely uses it.

WLAN is on. I actually turned it off at some point to see if it helps, but didn't seem to, so I turned it back on, to not accidentally browse slow speed at home. Bluetooth is off I think.

Can someone enlighten me on this cursed device?

So there was a long SMS text written and somehow the phone decided it is an MMS and on sending a message appears telling me that the network does not support the type or format or something like that (mobile data and WLAN both activated, tried at home, too). I copy and paste half that text into a new message and it is still MMS and still can't send it. Full text is only 2kb large, half of it is 1kb. So what the heck is going on?

I was about to smash that damn thing into the wall really. My old cell phone at least tells me to send two SMS if a text is too long and if I delete word after word it at least tells me when the text is finally short enough to fit into a single SMS and it also does not decide for me whether it is a MMS or SMS.

Can someone enlighten me, please? I don't know what else to do with it.
