Roccat Kone Pure Optical Review - Page 17

Just got mine today and am super disappointed :\ returning asap. Material is soooo ridiculously slippery - if there was a slight lip on the right side to help with gripping, it probably wouldn't be as big an issue. Also don't like the feel of the scroll notches, but I think that's more of a personal preference, I like the "bigger" more prominent notches on my FK.

Don't rush because of that. I thought the same when I got mine. It becomes more "grippy" with time.

so u dont use ur scroll often ickz? anyway. it becomes less slippery when you use it for 10-20 mins effectively, like all matte / rubber surfaces do

I do, and quite often - use it to target teammates/myself in WoW for arena, so the the feel of the scrollwheel and ease of pushing the wheel button is quite important to me.

Which dpi steps are SROM values?

Not sure what you mean, but all? o.O

Five values native in the SROM? I don't think it's even possible. Isn't it something like 400-4000 native; 4000*0.5=2000, 4000*0.3=1200, 400*2=800?

Modernized sensor DSP's are capable of way more than just a few steps. You'll see this more with future mice.

Actually imaging is worked off a lower value upward. 4000 DPI being factored from a lower base. Incremental increases 1.5, 2, 2.5, 4, 5 etc.. Traditionally the specific sensor architecture only used default of 2 cpi values. I don't know specifics of updates.

Can anyone compare this to a G400 in terms of responsiveness at 800dpi/1000hz? Does 800dpi feel anyhow laggy or interpolated on the Kone optical?

I thought 800 DPI was native on Savu and Kone optical. I know Skylid said Kone have better internals but the sensor is the same? Anyway atleast Savu 800@DPI feels very good, just like G400 does. I don't remember but i think the LOD on Savu was a bit higher. Performance wise both work perfectly for me but I'm not using either of them because of shape, coating etc.
