Roccat Kone Pure Optical Review - Page 3

got the mouse today.

My opinion,

shape

a bit better then savu, thumb inlay is narrower so youre thumb is in a better position.

coating

well I dont hate it or like it, I guess its no problem gripping wise seeing its only on the top rubber coated the sides are still not coated plastic.
Its feels comfy on top and you still retain youre grip so I guess a little upgrade compared to savu, wich had those super fast degrading sidegrips.

mousewheel

best mousewheel I have used in all my mice so far.

Sidebuttons

very good placement same as savu

design
I find the design okay.
I would loved the mouse design more without the the flashy roccat logo.

performance
on par with savu mabay a tiny tiny tiny bit better seing they used a different MCU.

Overal a little improvment vs my Savu or FK at work.

Guessing I will use my Savu now at work and wil put my FK away.
Seeing I find the huano's and mousewheel a little con.

Then I guess you have more sweaty hands than I do wink.gif For my dry hands the coating on the Savu is better and hasn't worn out one bit.

The best coating imo is found on the Mionix NAOS 5000, it's similar to the FK but even more grippy. A shame that none of the NAOS mice perform the way I need frown.gif

Sooo.. how's the coating compared to the IME 3.0?, if any of you tried both that is

My favorite coating of all time is the Xai.
I could grip and lift it perfect, I loved the rubber coating feel.

Sadly my sensei rubberized is way worse. But still ok after it got used abit.

Savu I still have a hard time to lift, fingers glide.

Deathadder 3G was also good with rubber top and glossy sides.

I always have super dry hands.

Woah this is weird, the information for the roccat kone pure optical was just recently released on their website and apparently the kone has 'true'(which I guess means non-interpolated) dpi steps of 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, 3200 and 4000dpi. For one this contradicts the information on the picture of the box in this thread, and I'm quite positive the A3090 doesn't have that many native dpi steps. Anyone who can clear this up?

Like I said in the Edit of the OP: Out of the box it comes with 400, 800, 1200, 2000 and 4000 dpi.

EDIT: dammit, I got confused again...

Oops, I didn't see that!

But in the OP you said it came with 400, 800, 1200, 2000, 4000 out of the box, I am slightly confused. Also, does that then mean that your enotus mouse tests for 1600dpi and 4000dpi show wrong maximum tracking speeds?

1600 dpi shows wrong results, you'd need to recalculate the speed by taking the actual counts/s and divide that by 1200 dpi, then multiply by 0.0254

4000 dpi is correct though, I realised that it was not 4000 dpi easily and though I had missed the click to increase dpi, so I clicked again. I just missed to do tests with 2000 dpi that way.

I have a question about the dpi, can you only use 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 2000, 3200 or 4000dpi or can you for example use 1000dpi or some other number in between?

Nope, AFAIK those are the only possible DPI settings.
