Also.... AC5 wont keep that HS STICKING to anything. It heats up, and will slide down. Get adheasive. Better yet.... UPGRADE

hmm i put some Dynex thermal compound (bestbuy brand) on a penny and then put a lump of staples on it about an hour ago and the staples still move around.

Thermal paste doesn't work in the way you're trying to make it. The point of the paste is to provide a VERY thin layer between the CPU/GPU and its heatsink to dissipate heat better. What you're trying to do it use it as a glue. Obviously, when you squeezed the stuff out onto the core it was real pasty but as it heats up it becomes a LOT more liquidy. Like others have mentioned, try using thermal adhesive which does EXACTLY what you want it to do.

Don't confuse thermal compound with thermal adhesive.

You can always do it ghetto style by mixing a little expoxy with some AS5 for a cheap thermal adhesive!
