Different values for CPU Core temp from Two different Temp monitor programs

Hi All,
I have really strange issue with my system. I have AMD FX-8120 which is clocked at 4 GHz. I have AMD Sabertooth 990 FX Gen 3 R2 mobo. Yesterday I installer Corsair H100i for cooling which also has support for Corsair Link which allows me to monitor and tweak cooling fans based on temperature.

Now today I was just monitoring system temp with that Corsair Link app (to see how water cooling is doing) and also using AI Suite II Thermal Radar (which monitors temp sensors of different parts of mobo). To my surprise both of them are reporting different CPU core temp. So then to confirm I installed HWMonitor by CUPID to see what it reports and it's results matches with one from AI Suite II.

So I am now confused about these results, because Corsair shows that my CPU is really cool (@22C) ... and AI Suite II shows it is bit hot (@38C) ... Which results are correct and which are wrong ? I have included screenshot which shows all three apps running.

Any explanation / comment will be really helpful.

Thanks,
Jack

My guess is that the Corsair software is wrong. It's probably reading a different value, and thinking that value is the CPU temp.

^^ ive found ai suite to be almost spot on with my sabertooth rev2 and 8350. +1

What are your ambient temperatures? 22 may not be even possible.

Still, I would choose the AI suite over the others.

@avesdude, ambient temp is 78F ~ 26C. So I would not be surprised if actual core temp is lower due to better cooling (but I could be wrong)

After more Googling about this issue it looks like that actual core temp depends on which sensor you are looking at !! ... But I think I agree with you guys that AI Suite is more reliable then Corsair Link ...

If that is the case then I have few more questions if anyone can help...
[1] Is this common issue with Corsair Link to have this much temp difference ?
[2] Is it normal to have this high temp for water cooled processor ?

It's impossible to have a core temperature below ambient in this situation. Think about it, if you have 26 degree air flowing over a 22 degree radiator, the air will warm the radiator. In standard air and water cooling scenarios the absolute lowest core temperature will always be your ambient, and usually you should be a few degrees above that.

You're right, AI Suite will be more reliable.

1. Without knowing which sensor the Corsair Link is polling, it is hard to say.
2. Your load temperatures are always more important. How high do you get when stress testing?

If 38c is your load temp your doing it something right... on the other hand if its your idle temp(on ai suite,hw monitor) tehn there is something wrong unless your room is 38c ambient. Theres been alot of discussion on false/inaccurate idle temps on fx chips so dont pay much attention to your idles. My thermake 240mm rad cooler is the same with its readings on their sw as well but its also reading liquid temp and not cpu temp so i set it almost as low as it goes. Whats your load temps on prime 95 after a few minutes?
