Keep overheating

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I have an over heating issue. I can feel the heat created by my PC. I know that sounds bogus because they do create heat. Its quite excessive. In order to keep my PC running i have to have a box fan on the side. I have ran temp monitoring programs but do not see any spikes in temp.

Below is a picture of the last time the PC froze. Was running a benchmark test with no box fan.

Any help or suggestions would be AWESOME.

Your cpu temps are great at 40c max. Your gpu temp is also fine if you did run a gfx benchmark. So nothing strange temp wise. My guess is that you have another issue and your pc freeze, like some kind of instability, rather than temps. Its normal for a pc to produce heat, especialy when you put it under stress(benchmarking/folding/stability tests)

Yes 40C is just fine for the CPU and the 67C the GPU is got, is also fine.

Must be a Bad OC, wore out VRM's or a bad Mobo. Oh God knows what else, but the temps are fine. thumb.gif

Thanks for the replies. Mobo is not OC, all setting are factory.

Are there another test that i could run to try to isolate the issues?
with all the possible problems, the lists of things you can try will be HUGE.. Best place I can try to guide you.. Are all of the drivers up to date? virus/malware scans all clean? defragged recently? if all are yes, try running chkdsk and all of the testing software like that, checking for basic errors. if everything else is good, is the install of the OS recent/clean? if not, reinstalling that(after backing up anything you care about, of course) will pretty much eliminate all software/driver bugs. if you are still having problems, that pretty much leaves faulty/bad hardware as a good suspect.
There are many more things that can be done but thats a (VERY) generalized and truncated list of troubleshooting most pesky problems when temps, OC stability, etc can be pushed aside.
Hope it helps!

Thanks for the reply. All my drivers are up to date, all my scans are clean. It has been a few years for an OS install. I can give that a try to see if it helps. I will give it a shot and see what happens. Thanks again for the suggestions.

definitely your temps looks like normal. heck, my rig at 100% load goes around 65-70C for both GPU and processor! although i live in a tropical country.

prolly the problem goes with ram or motherboard. try removing the rams and clean the ram contacts, and as well as blowing the ram sockets with compressed air. and maybe run memtest. if your rig is OCd , try putting everything back to default settings first.

Might be time to update your motherboard bios, all the firmware on any of your hard drives, then of course with a fresh installation of Windows a fresh installation of all new up to date drivers for your components.

As far as temps go, you are fine, so it's definitely something else.

Might have a rookit too, some anti-viruses don't find them. Install SpyBot 2: http://www.safer-networking.org/mirrors/ has most thorough scanning process before you do anything crazy.
