Cannot RAID0 Windows 7 x64 before or after installation

So I originally had this set up beautifully with no issues. Then I was moving my computer between rooms, something got knocked, I went and accidentally reset my BIOS to default, RAID went back to AHCI mode, all hell broke loose, had to start over....

Asus Sabertooth X79
Two Samsung 840 Pro SSDs plugged into Intel (not Marvell) SATA III ports

So I go into BIOS and enable RAID mode, reset, configure the array, and start Windows installation via DVD. It tells me I need a driver because no drives are recognized but I have a flash drive with Intel AHCI/RAID Driver for Windows 32/64bit 7 Version 3.0.0.3011 on a flash drive so I make it past that. Everything copies, extracts, unpacks, whatever, but then at the end of installation I either get a quick flash BSOD upon the Completing Installation phase, or it finishes, but Windows is unusable for various reasons (explorer stops working at every instance, asks for login user id and pw when there IS none.) It seems like every time there is a different issue. So I went a different route...

I ditched the array, went back to AHCI mode, and installed Windows 7 on a single drive. No issues.
HKEY_LOCAL)MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorA Start = 0
HKEY_LOCAL)MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\iaStorV Start = 3
HKEY_LOCAL)MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\msahci Start = 0

Changing IaStorV to 0 results in a quick BSOD upon booting that is unfixable without reinstallation, so I am out of options for switching to RAID after installation.

Any ideas people?

When you load the drivers during the pre install phase, are you using the 32bit ones or the 64 bit ones?

64 bit.
