Right, I am with you here. It did do some revolutionary things. I just don't think its one of the greatest games of all time. Sorry.
Sir.. Sir.. Calm down. You are tempting me to move to washington and marry you! stop it! Also, last time I played the original x-com? I played it for 5 hours and noticed it was 1 in the morning and past my bedtime.
In all seriousness though. This obsession with the Half life series is a bit disturbing to me. Maybe I AM
getting too old. I didn't think it was the best game ever then and I don't now. It isn't even a blip in my top 25. All the great points have been made as to why not by others and myself.
I don't think you're getting to old Darkpriest or you'd be too old to move to Washington and re-marry
Just think of the love you have for X-com ( or maybe turn based sci-fi's ) and just apply the same feeling to Half-life and you have what others feel. It's pretty much the same thing, just others prefer the FPS of HL1 and 2. I don't understand why some people ( Not you Dark, just in general ) seem so emotionally distant that they can love all the other genres they want but if someone loves something they don't like just as much they're heretics... wasn't this the basis for the crusades ?
The game is a classic game, Just like X-com, FF7, Deus ex, Birth of the federation etc... We're all gamers here and we should agree that, love it or like it, Half life 2 did marvelous things for Physics in games. I personally remember having a Dev over to our collage to talk about the physics and the lighting whilst I was studying games and animation a few days before HL2s Release.
HL3 -will- come out and it will be the best time when the steambox comes out, what better time to showcase your new baby's first venture into the market than with one of the most anticipated games of the decade not to mention E3 would be the time to showcase it. Still, I also find that it's kinda sad that people have become so jaded that any mention of HL3 immediately sparks the comments of "Fake." Faith of not, the fact that people are on here commenting, means you lot still care and are interested, so just believe you have a little faith that it'll come out and stop being so negative. By all means have a concision and coherent argument as to why the article is fake but don't dismiss everything out of hand because you've been burned by believing something that was fake. Skepticism works
