Well I hope all goes well in surgery and I hope you have a speedy recovery! In the mean time, I hope you can get this computer up and running so that you can start making some money.

Tell me about it man redface.gif I thought I was slowly getting better, but now my diagnosis has shifted from a degenerative disease to a herniated/bulging disk. They're gonna have to slice through muscles in my back, open up the spinal canal and cut out the bulging part of the disk which will never grow back... But at this point I'm ready because being in pain 24/7 as well as not being able to bend over whatsoever is annoying for 7+ months, especially when they told me my pain would go away within 4 months. But my power supply is on the way so that's good, right? biggrin.gif cables will be there on Thursday, and the new PSU will be here by the end of the week- just got confirmation from Silverstone! I've now gotta rely on the mining because my summer job where I'd be earning $3,000+ is out of the question :/

Yeah me too... I don't want to be permanently impaired believe me. Right now the only things on my mind are getting this car I've been lusting over for almost 10 years, having a running gaming PC, and getting finals done.

I can work through the pain no problem, but after work is when it gets annoying redface.gif imagine not being able to twist, bend, or lift heavy-ish things (15+ kilos) at all. There's ways to adapt to it, but it sucks regardless tongue.gif

Back to what this thread was originally about! Got my tracking numbers for my cables, they're almost half way to the sleever. Power supply is finally en route as well, and the tubing for the most part is finalized. The only additions to be made to the case are the cables, new power supply (of course), more sound deadening where I can squeeze it, and a pair of EK FC R9-290X Reinforcing brackets. My old 7970 Swiftech Komodo block sagged like... Um a sagging graphics card since I technically can't say the phrase of choice on OCN tongue.gif

I'm just now realizing how much has actually gone into this rig. This vision all started with a Phenom II X4 965 and my first over clocking experience. It's made a progression through two other cases, hundreds if not thousands of dollars in water cooling components and even more in actual hardware, months of development and countless nights staring through the window wondering what I could make better. While compromises have been made- it's what I've always dreamed about.

The only things I could think of swapping at this time would be the front fans. They're clicking a little from being in their orientation for so long without running. Either PL-1's (the lower RPM version) or the B12-1 e-Loop fans will make their way into the front. I love the stealthy look of the front, although some white to match the vandal switches would be lovely drool.gif

Wow, it has been quite the journey! It's interesting to see it all laid out like that. Crazy to think that the vast majority of people on OCN have had some sort of a journey like that (to some extent) be it with multiple systems or one that has had a few upgrades spread out over time. Heck, I'm already on my third case and I'm looking at where I'm going next already (haven't even had the 600T for a year yet).

Heck, I'm already on my third case and I'm looking at where I'm going next already (haven't even had the 600T for a year yet).

I definitely agree. That's how I got started in this hobby in the first place. I wish that I would be able to get sponsors or something and be able to just build non-stop. Unfortunately you need to have a pretty solid build/mod going to get the sponsors in the first place and to get that you need money (and time and a workshop) to get that first mod going (all three of which I lack while at school rolleyes.gif)

I guess if CaseLabs would love to sponsor me, that'd save me a lot of money so I know what you mean. Plus my work shop is my room, and school consumes a lot of my time as well.. Which sucks.

Yeah, even if I had access to somewhere to work on my case while here at school that would be a huge help. Even still, money is still a decent sized factor. At least I'll have a job or two this summer and hopefully another one when I come back for next semester.

I've found that taking a small part of your paycheck ($40 or so) and finding one of those 5 gallon water jugs that offices have. Go to the bank when you cash your pay check, and pull out whatever amount in quarters. Assuming you get paid every other week, you'll have a nice chunk of change (literally) to start building or modding a PC with.

I started doing that because my father told me once of his friend Darwin, who wanted to buy a used Toyota pickup something like 20 or so years ago. Saved up, filled the jar- and walked in with the cash he got from the jar and drove home in a pretty new pickup. Taking change with me to buy food or something is too much effort, so it's the lazy man's way to save tongue.gif hey it works though.

Oh yeah, and bury $1 bills in the bottom under the change. I emptied out my bottle a while ago and have a few hundred $1 bills. Also, quarters are your friend.

See I have no problem saving, I do a similar thing but with $20 bills and a small paint can I leave at home (so I can't spend it here). Unfortunately, without a job here at school I don't have an income (during the school year) to deposit into the can frown.gif Then when I'm home I'll be driving my gas thirsty 99 Grand Cherokee everywhere... Fun fun when gas is $60-$80 every week and a half

EDIT: let me rephrase that saving bit. I have no problem saving up to spend a ton of money on computer stuff.
