Uninstall Windows 8.1

Thread Starter
Well, I had been screwing around with 8.1 over the past month and really like it. But it turns out that the WP8 SDK Emulator is not compatible, so I'm trying to reinstall W8...unfortunately everything I've tried is complete fail. IF you can help please let me know.

First I tried restore from system image....well my PC kindly told me that the OS versions didn't match...whatever!
So I tried the refresh and reinstall options under the pc settings menu...I was promptly asked to insert recovery media. I inserted my trusty Windows 8 Restore Disc...again rejected. I upgraded to W8 from W7...not sure how to get that install back...reinstall W7 and upgrade again with my valid key? is that possible?

How did you upgrade to 8,1? Using an ISO or the Store update?
surprised the emulator isn't compatible are you sure you couldn't force it?
When I did it I just booted from a disc drive that had my Windows 8 restore disk in it and did a new install from the menu, worked fine.

(do not select the reinstall from the actual system settings area of windows 8/.1, it will tell you the version does not match. You just go into your bios and select the disk drive as the primary boot drive and boot straight to the restore disk and choose a fresh install.)

Thanks, I'll try that. I'll also double check the emulator. Windows gave me the option to try to run it or search for fixes...I did both, didn't work. I'll try again when I get home tonight.

You should perform this: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/13375-clean-install-windows-8-upgrade.html

Take note that upgrading to Windows 8.1 is a one way trip. you can't simple uninstall it like a Service Pack. ==> http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ph/windows-8/preview-faq
