It's the other way around. Phenom II 965 bottlenecking the GTX 670. The cpu is still pretty good today handling single cards. You'll get good FPS with the said combo.

Planetside 2 yeah you will see frame drops. Bf3 64 player will be rough on the CPU. My 1090t struggled with my 6850 crossfire and it was at 4.0 :/ Not being a fanboy or anything just speaking from experience. It really just depends, overclocking it will help though. In the end if you are happy then who cares.

With that setup, you'll probably get frame drops because of the CPU in a lot of games.
Any game with a huge open world runs the risk of overloading a CPU, if too many players go to the same spot. Games with a set number of players on a map rarely cause a bottleneck, unless it is a high amount like 64+ decently detailed characters.

In general
CPU - Allows for more complex scenes, more players, more objects, further view distance
GPU - Allows for better lighting, shadows, AA/AF, High Resolution, further view distance

The Phenom processors are not high end, but they're decent. I would recommend you overclock it if you experience FPS drops. If you're going to play MMOs or RTS games, then you might want to get a new one.
