Hissing From Headphones

Hey All,

Running an Auzentech X-Fi Forte sound card, which has a headphone amp port, and which I have my cans (steelseries siberia v2) plugged into directly.

I am noticing a distinct hissing sound when there is no sound coming out of the headphones, any ideas what might be causing it?

My headphones have an inline volume control, and I have the windows master volume set to 85% and control the volume of the headphones via the inline volume.

Any ideas what might cause this or how to fix it?

Did you try the headset on another computer to see if the hiss is Isolated to your headset or the soundcard?

A little google fu reveals that your some users of the steelseries siberia v2 headset report "white noise" at low volume levels.

Is there any difference if you set the in-line to max and reduce the Windows/Soundcard volume?

Finally got home and was able to play around with the headphones, and the hissing went away as soon as I muted the mic. I read up a bit on yahoo and apparently this is a known issue with the siberia v2's, and I am ok with it, as I dont talk much with my headphones. Thanks again all those who posted in this thread thumb.gif
