Before I start yes Im a complete noob.

Installed the gpu cooler last night - first effort at anything like this. All went very well until at very end three pin fan connector doesnt fit card.so tried dell 945 mobo connectors instead - didnt work. Then spliced original stock connector from 850card to new wires from fan but not working. Im thinking I should connect direct to PSU 4 pin? Is there a three pin male to 4 pin PSU male adapter or something else I should be doing?

System presently idling 52deg without fan working compared to 40deg on stock fan/cooler for card.

System is D930, 945g mobo Dell, 850xt pe on approx. 5% overclock ATI Tools.

Hmm, I'd be a little suspicious about the fan, have you verified this is okay? A low power fan should run fine off the motherboard. Yes, you can buy an adapter that will let you run a 3 pin fan off a 4 pin molex plug. They're very cheap so might be the best way to check that everything is working. If it still won't run then the fan is bust.

thanks - have been talking to some guys in the office and I think I will test the fan off a battery to see if it works.

Have also ordered a 3 to 4 pin converter to be sure. If the fans busted I presume I should just buy a new one to fit the V-1...

bought a flowlite fan as it came with a 3 pin to 4 pin adapdirect connection to PSU. swaped over fans (also the original fan was pointing in the wrong direction back up into the card). working like a charm. idle 37deg load 58 deg. 600/1300 ati o'clock.
