Post Office deleting my email account (UK)

Thread Starter
I jacked the Post Office in as a broadband service provider a few months ago because of their inability to provide an email service which worked and their indifferent attitude to the problem. Now I have received a message saying that because I no longer use them as an ISP my email account will be deleted on September 1st.
Are they really allowed to do this? My understanding was that even if you no longer used an ISP your email account could still be used.

Your email accont as being provided with the ISP, u stopped paying for your internets from them, so why would they give you a free email?

That's some funny stuff there bro. LOL.

What gave you the idea that you have a "right" to e-mail without charge? Is that a UK thing?

Here in the USA, you stop paying for ISP provided e-mail, you lose it ... usually a lot faster than you are there. I'm surprised they're letting you coast along until September 1st, if my customers stop paying me - I cut them off after 30 days, and that's entirely a courtesy to let them transfer their old mail off the account.

Unless you own the domain, they can do whatever they want.

There's no requirement to give you a free service at their expenditure.

ISP-based e-mail service isn't free unless you still have service with them. Since you no longer have service with the ISP, of course they have the right to remove your e-mail account.

I suggest you make a free e-mail account and transfer your old mail account data to the new "free" one.

I don't understand why you are upset about this if it didn't even work anyway? You left because you're not happy with their service, now that the service is being denied you want to keep it...confused.gif

Am I missing something? And as above, as you are stopping payment, they are not required (and would be foolish) to carry on providing that service for free.
