Wonder if he's heard of dual core processors, or HDTV

Actually my experience with IE10 has been very smooth and it performs on par with Chrome when a website is not very java heavy. Chrome is less stable in my experience as I usually watch streams on twich tv and go to websites with a lot of Flash videos and it crashed here and there. Also chrome is not very memory efficient. The 2 things holding me back from switching to IE are bookmark syncing and extensions.

Try full screen mode in IE10/11 by pressing F11, it hides tabs but when you move over, tabs show up just like a normal non-full-screened Chrome. Looks very nice to me

I think this attitude of "People only use IE because they don't know any better" is holding you back from experiencing something quite good. I like IE11. A lot. I also have Chrome Canary installed, which I rarely use now, although I was one of the first people to try, use, and recommend Chrome when the Beta was first launched. And currently, other than IE11 I primarily use Maxthon which is another browser that I wouldn't have known about if I stuck to being a fan or advocate of any specific browser.

IE11 has the fastest sunspider results. It wins out in all sorts of gpu accelerated benchmarks. And I absolutely love how smooth the "smooth scroll" feature is. There are things that Chrome has that I miss, such as Ad Block. But to flat out say that Ie11 is a bad browser is really just an uninformed comment that would make one look foolish. That kind of attitude doesn't belong on a technology forum and would be more at home in the comments section of a PS4 vs. Xbox1 article.

I was selling a notebook to this middle aged man the other day (job sort of)
He was complaining about how his current notebook was slow on "the youtube" So I asked him what browser he used.
"What the hell is a browser?"
Few minutes later
"What's a hard disk?"

People...........

But on topic.

I really liked IE6 in ye olde XP days

Guess I should have elaborated more. Trust is earned. I'm one of the cool kids hating on IE, because IE deserves it from burning me in the past. I was there for all the previous IE's, and I don't much care if "lately its gotten good". Microsoft's whole persona is reflected in IE, as it is in most of their stuff, and I'm not a fan. I'll stick with companies that haven't yet failed me time and time again, and haven't basically treated me like poop. So yeah, imo, IE is junk best left to the suckas. Have they given me any real reason to switch from FF? Other than "Hey! Take a look! We don't suck now!"

Just my .02
