I need help overclocking a i5-3570k.

My motherboard I'm currently using to overclock is a ASUS maximus iv gene-z and I've looked at my tutorials but they all have a different BIOS than I do.
I try to follow along as best as I can and change all the basic settings but every time I do it just doesn't work. For instance If I put it at 3.8ghz it will ignore that and just reboot to the base clock at 3.4. If anyone can give me some advice/send a tutorial to help it would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a link to the motherboard so I can see it? Also for the CPU stuff, mainly make sure your thermals are alright, then take vcore to 1.2 manual voltage and then run an OC of 4.2 and tell me how that goes. Don't just exit Bios hit esc and click the save and exit one. if you're just changing the multi and not upping the voltage that could be why as you faster you go the moar juice you need! biggrin.gif Lets get this baby runnin fast!

Also it is a 3570K correct?

1. are yuou sure you are saving BIOS settings instead of just exiting BIOS?2
2. Are you upping the CPU voltage
3. Does it suddenly shut down or seem unstable when you boot?
