Water Cooling LGA771 - Dual Quad Xeon L5410

Hi folks,

I've made the mistake buying some Socket 771 based kit for a home lab vSphere/ESXi setup.

Now I realise that the few quiet dual-CPU fan coolers that once existed are no longer available so am looking at the possibility of water cooling, and the key will be to find a suitable water block......but these seem to be hard to come by also.

While I work through the noob guides, has any one got any suggestions ?

The kit:
Supermicro X7DWN+,
Dual Quad core L5410 CPU
32mb RAM (2Gb x 16)
PSU: Antec 650W
Case: ServercaseUK SC-43400

...that's a **huge** mobo (EE-ATX) in a short rackmount case.

...and the RAM will kick out a lot of heat also.

Luckily the PSU can be rotated 90% to allow the wide mobo to fit (with a little dremel/rivet work), and I don't need any disks (boot from USB stick) and I don't have a posh graphics card.

Not looking to overclock, not looking for any bling, just want a quiet server in my rack (that will probably heat the flat very nicely).

Any suggestions welcome, will post some photos of the starting point if that's of any interest.

Update:

I see D-TEK FuZion v2 CPU Block- Universal fits socket 771:

...and is still available. Can anyone recommend this ?

The Fuzion really hasn't been relevant in many years. It will lag quite a bit behind modern blocks. However I doubt it really matters much for your CPU choices.
