is something wrong with my motherboard?

Hi

I recently purchased a F2A55-M LK ASUS motherboard and a AMD A8 6600K richland APU.
I have had heat issues with the chips which say r68 on them as the top too chips get very hot when computer is idle and get even hotter while playing a game (cant put my finger on them for more than a couple of seconds). the gameplay becomes unstable as the chips become too hot and the fps half as a result. Also if i run prime95 the computer freezes up every few seconds which makes it difficult to close prime95. I havent overclocked anything atall and left everything in default settings and there is no change if i use discreet GPU compared to integrated graphics.

First of all what are these "chips" (northbridge?)
There is no heat sink on them which leads me to think that they shouldn't be getting that hot especially when the computer is idle?
Anyone else with this bored having similar issues or should i rma the board?
I have a corsair fan as exhaust just above these chips through the top of my case.

If u need any information just ask.

cheers

I'd RMA it, this sounds like something Physical and you wouldn't want to start messing around with your Motherboard and Risk invalidating your RMA

Your CPU is overheating, which is obvious. Which cooler have you got on your CPU and are you certain it's secure? Which case have you got and how many fans? RMAing the board and CPU will not solve anything if the problem lies with the case or your cooling. I am assuming you are using the stock cooler but just want to make sure. If you can take some photos and show us, please.

I RMAed my motherboard and went for a slightly better one anyways which solved the problem to a extent. i now have the F2A85-V and the problem only seems to occur in games now not when it is idle. and the cpu is cool its just the "r68" chips which i found were called chokes.

sorry about the quality but you get the idea with the fan setup.
the two case fans are exhaust and the cpu fan pushes air through the heat sink.
there is also a fan as intake at the front.
