All is not well. I need to initialize with all of my drives, not just one or two.

Does the above post give you any indication as to why I thought it could be flexraid and not the card? At any-rate I hope you find a solution to your problem.
So you're saying FlexRaid doesn't like Dell Perc 6/i cards? Maybe I'm still not understanding.

I'll tell you my setup as you probably would like to do something similar to what I have got.

OS: Debian Wheezy
Raid: Software Raid 5 - using mdadm. (software raid is needed for green drives) The array is formatted as Ext4
Drives: 3x2tb WD Green HD - Looking to expand as I fill the drives up (so far 2/4tb full)
Onboard sata controllers are being used.

For sharing I am using samba, with both guest (r) and user accounts (rw).

There are no issues with compatibility across operating systems (osx, linux (deb), win).
