Please help me with my setup - Page 2

And are they on the same unit? Because numbers also show the 760 to be within 4k PPD on 8900 at 1228 , not a 10k difference like your stating.

edit: i'd still like to remind you, my actual suggestion is with a $500 budget do not go lower than a 770 performance wise ....

If I remember correctly they were on 7810s but it could have been 8900s.

Yeah I know and I think that is a good point because it's more energy efficient and actually presents you with a reasonable upgrade path whereas if you buy two lower end cards, adding a third is not really economical. Why would you suggest a 770 instead of a 7970?

F@H history always favors nvidia. also i mentioned 770 or above level, not def. a 770. My favor always goes to a single higher end card, even if total PPD output is lower *for now*. The increase in PPD is better off of two cards, along with the longevity. look at 580s ... not long ago they were tops for folding, and now a 580 makes 1/3 (max) of what my 680 can do (which is why the suggestion for the newer generation is what I stick with, chances for increased PPD lie in the newer gens, rather than older gens). But AMD GPU's are a good choice as well. on 78** units the Nvidias seem to win, on 8900 the tide is in AMDs favor. All comes down to preference

However if you want the most "stable" folding, a 2p or more machine is where to go, but the investment can be quite a bit more than GPUs.
