Car paint on plastic ?

Thread Starter
I've got an old steel PC case that I was going to chuck but realised I could maybe have a go at giving it a paint job and some stencil work.

I think I'd be right in saying that many people use car spray paint on the panels of their cases - but what should I spray on the plastic front panel - does usual spray paint cause problems, melt the plastic or not hold properly?

Bear in mind that I am in the UK, just to be awkward, so brands from the US may not be available, but the generic type of paint should be. Look forward to any advice .

For the plastic panels, you'd just use the same paint as the rest of it. Use an appropriate primer over both. Primer choice should be the same brand/type as the color coat.

I've seen it done. check out this guy: http://www.youtube.com/user/jayrod2?feature=watch

if you want that nice glossy finish go for it, but if you prefer to keep it smooth just use primer and any paint that works well with plastic smile.gif

rough it up with a little sandpaper, or even scotch brite first, it'll help the primer and paint hold better.
