Monitor recommendation needed

Hi guys, it seems that the days of playing on my 1440x900 dell from back in 2008 are finally going to end. I am looking at upgrading and would love some suggestions from you.

I am looking for a monitor that is at least 23 inches, I do not have a preference between 16:10 and 16:9, meaning that I am looking for 1920x1080 at minimum smile.gif
I am a college student, so my usage breaks down to approximately
70% of the time will be spent doing web research, reading, word processing and programming. I am an engineering student so there will also be some CAD and photoshop in there.
the remaining 30% goes to gaming. The following is a list of games that I will be playing or am already playing: Project cars, The Witcher 2, BF4, Dota 2, Planetside 2. These are in no specific order.

I would think that I should be more concerned about image quality and text clarity than response time give my usge, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

The rig I am using is in my signature, but basically it's a GTX 660 Super clocked and overclocked 3570k. My budget is $220, I have free shipping.

I have been doing research and have narrowed it down to a single monitor, the Dell U2312hm listed for just over 200 on amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-U2312HM-IPS-Monitor/dp/B005LN1JEC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2YT3SW3LQV0M0&coliid=I1XZ0KDV6EAE07

Is this a good monitor for me? If not, could you please make suggestions?
Also, someone wants to buy my current monitor (needs one more for 3 monitor setup), which would make my budget closer to 270 dollars. If I can come up with an extra 30 dollars on top of that would I be wise to go for a 2560x1440 qnix IPS? My main concern is not being able to drive games at that resolution (mainly BF4), in which case I might have to downscale to 1080p. Will that make the game look like crap?

Thanks in advance

BUMP!
I am tempted by the Asus VS 248 as it is also 23 inches, 1080p and about 50 dollars cheaper. I figure since I am paying for an obsolete resolution I might as well go cheap for it. Is the IPS worth the extra 50 dollars? Any suggestions, links, anything, is much appreciated.

Get the Qnix man, I see that you said 70% of the time you're doing 'student' stuff...and the amount of screen realestate that 1440p @ 27" gives you is really great...and on top of that it's a good gaming monitor and great for watching movies/tv on.
