Does anyone know the specs of (and where to buy) the mesh they use?

that's not the kind of thing people generally pay attention to. Pantyhose is a common fan mesh replacement. Your only hope is to call the company IMHO.

My guess is that the only way is to get the filter itself.

The DemciFlex filters are a finer mesh in terms of dust prevention, but are also a very restrictive mesh. That and they do seem to be a bit pricey. The only way to get comparable filtration otherwise may be to use a HEPA filter on the case.

if you own one, you could try taking it to a fabric store and see if the lady can match it. It's probably just some kind of rayon lining material or something.

Really? I'm always told how nonrestrictive they are. I was assuming that they use the same kind of stuff that's used in tumble dryer lint filters - I said this in another thread, and someone said it's much finer, but having recently got a new dryer, I realise now that not all lint filters are equal. The new dryer's filter is pretty coarse, but the stuff in my last two dryers was extremely fine, and minimally restrictive. If I could get a roll of that I'd be well pleased. I guess I'll get a demci filter to see how it compares. For some reason they wont sell me the straight mesh.

thinking.gif Has anyone ever compared Silverstone and DEMCifilter to see what the performance difference is?
I'm using the Silverstone FF141 and get almost no dust. In 6 months of use there is just enough dust on the back of fan's leading edge to be able to see it... and that's the only dust I found. I hoover my filters every week or two.

Just a quick Google search came up with this site: http://www.saatiamericas.com/SaatiTech/data_sheets.html If you look at any of the Saaticare data sheets (2nd group) you can see the different mesh grades and porosity. I would presume that Demciflex is some version of one of these. According to the website: "SaatiFil fabrics are used in electronic applications for air venting, dust and moisture control, static dissipation (ESD) and conductive applications. The narrow pore size distribution of SaatiFil fabrics ensures predictable and consistent airflow. SaatiFil Metalester fabrics can be used to dissipate static charges or for conductive property requirements."

I don't know how commercially available these materials might be for those who want to DIY filter screens.

No idea.
Fabric stores have material that will work just fine and is readily available.. or nylon window screen from local hardware store.

I've used oxygen generator filter pads.. and generic Scotch-Brite scouring pads 6" x 9" pads cut to size work well.. and can be had in many colors too.
