Crossfire 7970 Matrix & Platinum

Sup guys,
I thought about to buy a second 7970 Matrix and crossfire them together.
The thing is that I have a normal Matrix 7970 and the Platinum version of the Matrix is like 50€ cheaper here. I saw on Geizhals that there are some minimal differences between the Matrix and Matrix Platinum, like memory Bandwith 288GB/s and 316GB/s or 4096GFLOPS and 4300GFLOPS. I read often that the Platinum version of the matrix has some problems with the OC values from the manufacturer (artifacts). Because my Matrix has some problems with my values too, which makes it difficult to find the right stable ones I'm not sure, if I should get a Platinum. Not only because of the OC values (artefacts, RMA) I read about, but the differences between them, like the Bandwith and GFLOPS. Do they mean something or can I buy the Platinum, crossfire and OC it without thinking about a lot ? Right now my Matrix runs with 1200/1725 (looks like) stable. With 25mhz more on CC I got ugly artifacts, like a chessboard. I don't know if it's defect or just OC artifacts, need to test more. However, is there a noticeable difference between the Platinum and the normal Matrix ? Can I crossfire them without problems ? I know that there are people who want to tell me not to buy a crossfire system, because of the microstutter and because a 770 gtx sli is better, but I don't want to sell my 7970 to get then a gtx 770, it's easier for me to buy a second matrix.
Thank you for your help wink.gif

there is no difference between the matrix and matrix platinum other than stock clocks. running two HD 7970 cards in CF you should aim for 1100 - 1150 mhz. heat is a major factor with 2 cards. also your core and VRM temps determing your stability. core temps below 70c and VRM temps below 90c are generally good. if you can remain rock stable in all games / benchmarks at 1.1 Ghz in CF you should be happy.

also about microstutter AMD is going to release their CF frame pacing drivers on july 31. so you should get more smoother framerates and consistent frametimes. if you want you can wait for reviews of CF frame pacing driver and then decide.

Well, thank you very much. thumb.gif
As I said, the values on Geizhals with the GFLOPS and Bandwith confused me a little bit.
By the way, do you know a programm with I can read the VRM temp. ?
I use Gpu-Z but it only shows me the normal gpu temperature and not vram or other things. Does HWmonitor show all temperatures ?

hwinfo32 and msi afterburner report both core and vrm temps.
