Correct. I wouldn't even call it Sandbox. It simply boils down to having a more open level than the rest. People don't see to get that.

Just having a slightly more open level design does not make a game OPEN WORLD. Open world is Fallout 3/NV, TeS and a few other games that don't do it as well.
TLOU isn't even sandbox. Sandbox would be ArmA or similar games where you have this large world, but you have to make things to do in it.

You are not the only one. The last console game that I even thought was remotely good was Red Dead Redemption. I absolutely love that game and I was a PC Enthusiast when it released. I've yet played another great title on the console since. I recently bought God of War Ascension (and I LOVED the God of War series years ago), but I HATED the game. I got about half way through the game and just found it boring and dull and have yet touched it since. Around the same time, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm released (I'm a huge SC guy, as well) and had a blast with it and felt more at home playing it. I can't say that console games are just dull, boring, with horrid mechanics and controls, but that's how I feel sometimes with recent console games I've played.

I'm still enjoying console games as much as I did back in the NES days though I put more effort into PC gaming recently.

for someone that is biases, your point of view about the game means nothing really.
Flaws in your complaints

1. You hate controllers yet you complain about the mechanics.
I am a PC gamer switching to console after many many years and i have to say that I had no problem with the controls really. It's vastly different but it's far from the worst.

2. You are comparing PC graphics to console graphics.
PC graphics will be better vs the PS3 due to the issue of memory and power it has. Considering the power of the PS3, this game looks amazing on such old hardware. What brings this game in is more the Lighting than anything else.
I did look at some objects closely to find that it's low res textures but that was to be expected due to the 256MB ram it has to gaming.

Also if you had such a hard time trying to kill stuff, stop examining the bad and nitpicking about small things and enjoy the game for what it is.
Also this game isn't a first person shooter where you can spray and prey.
And another thing about resources... WELL DUH they're hard to come across! This is a survival game, not some perfect world where when you need something you'll have it at hand. I mean, realistically over 20 years since the world pretty much fell apart, do you think there will be endless supplies of ammo and medical stuff with all the scavengers grabbing everything they can when they can?

Sheesh, people need to stop nitpicking games' graphics.
