Hi everyone,

I need some help with building/upgrading my current file server. I am currently using:

OS: Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS (installed on a Patriot Xporter XT Rage 16 GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive)

CPU: Intel Core2 Quad (Q6600)

Motherboard: Intel D975XBX2

Memory: 8 GB DIMM DDR2 Synchronous 800 MHz (Patriot brand but don't remember the model, (pic)

Hard drives:

1. Seagate Barracuda 500GB (ST3500418AS) x1

1. SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB (HD103SJ) x1

1. Seagate Barracuda 500GB (ST3500413AS) x1

Case: Some $5 mid-tower case I got at a TigerDirect open box sale. The brand is Ultra.

The current computer was an old gaming rig I use to use then I installed Ubuntu server and have been having it run as the "heart," of my home theater setup. The reason for the upgrading/replacing is because lately I have been having some issues with the system. My receivers are 3 desktop PCs that are all running Ubuntu desktop + XBMC installed.

I'm having 2 problems trying to design this new machine. 1^st is I am on a budget (about $300 USD, can get away with a little more) and the 2^nd is I wan't to find a case that can hold a reasonable amount of hard drives for future upgrades(only plan on putting 3x 2 TB HDDs at time of build). Any suggestions that you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.

I've put this together on newegg so far :
