Best case for my current system.

Thread Starter

Here's a quick brief on the current situation:

Right now I have a CM 690 II, it's a good case however the roof is designed in a such a way that if a 140mm fan is installed above the actual enclosure, you can't fit the roof on. This means that I can't fit my H90 on the case and therefore I've decided that a new case is in order. In other words, a reasonable excuse to upgrade.

Ideally looking for something that is spacey, easy to manage (cable-wise), smart and quiet. Performance isn't a huge factor as long as it isn't poor, I don't plan on running two titans and and clocking my CPU into oblivion.

The Fractal Design XL R2 caught my eye but it's been a while since I've looked at cases so I've no idea what's hot and what's not.

Budget it whatever it needs to be really, but try to keep it reasonable (under £150 if possible).

Thanks chaps.

Corsair 350d. Its a smaller case but because of its flexibility its probably easier to work with than cm 690ii.

Fractal arc midi r2 for another nice mid tower or as you say Define xl. That's a nice case as well.

Corsair 650d is a decent large case. You may also want to look at corsair air 540. Great case with innovative design.

when selecting your next case, keep this comment in mind. ATX specifications has changed little since its inception. most of the time you only UPGRADE your case due to aesthetic reasons (got tired of looking at the same box day in and day out for years at a time) and we start making excuses to "upgrade" the case.

the question you should ask yourself before the upgrade is do you think you'll get sick of looking at the same box for the next 10 years? if yes, then don't spend too much $ on it because you'll be sick of it in 4 to 5 years. BUT, if you get a case that is of a classic style with very good thermal design, you can stick with that same case for the next decade or more.

CM690 III is coming out next month. Looks like they left outside as is but changed the I side to be much more flexible.
