Upgrading build. Need advice on AMD FX4170 Zambezi

About a year ago I ordered parts for an insanely budget build off Newegg, and I think its time to upgrade, but I can't decide between whether to upgrade my processor or not. I have an AMD FX4170 right now but I want to transform my PC into a gaming for as little as possible. I'm thinking of just upgrading the mobo and graphics card because right now I have integrated graphics (Radeon HD 4250) on an ASUS M5A88-V EVO mobo with an 880G chipset, and I'm almost positive that even if I upgraded the graphics card, the front side bus speed would still choke the hell out of my computer. So first of all, could someone recommend a card and a board for me and then let me know if that build with the same processor would be powerful enough to run something like Skyrim with 4k retexture mods?

The rest of my build is listed below, and everything I have now is way more than enough for what a gaming PC needs as far as I know.
  • G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory
  • COOLER MASTER GX Series RS750-ACAAD3-US 750W ATX12V v2.31 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
  • WD Caviar Black 1TB HHD
  • Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2BAA 2.5" 64GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
  • LITE-ON Black SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model iHDS118-04
  • ASUS M5A88-V EVO AM3+ AMD 880G SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
  • AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Quad-Core Desktop Processor FD4170FRGUBOX
  • Samsung SyncMaster S23B550 23" monitor

Your motherboard will influence how well games run MUCH less than your CPU and GPU. I'd start with a new card then determine if you need a new mobo or not. You will get perfectly playable framerates on a single 1080p monitor with that FX.

Something like this, perhaps

What about a 7870? I know that's the top of the line for the 7800's but how much of a performance difference would it make?

Compared to what you have, quite a bit. Just make sure you're getting a card with minimum 2GB of vram
