Just bought a 7970 to CF with my 7950, that's ok right?

It was $298 free ship off newegg was the reason I did it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202008

Thats the same I paid for my 7950 awhile back, so I said wth why not. Anyways I am going to put my 7970 as my first card, and my 7950 for my second card. that way games that dont have a CF profile still have a 7970 powering them singly.

Good idea?

I don't get the extra performance from the 7970 even in games that have a CF profile? It downclocks to a 7950... :/ ???

In theory yes but in reality no. It will be close to HD7950 CF then HD 7970 CF. Clock per Clock the difference is is 5% but HD 7970 tends to OC a bit better. If i was you i would sell your HD 7950 and get another cheap HD 7970.

the 7970 wont downclock, but you will be running close to 7950cf than 7970cf. you can try overclocking your 7950 to match the clocks on the 7970

This is my first 7970 with boost, how does this work? DO I push the button in for boost to work or leave it not pushed in for boost to work? or do i leave it off and OC manually?
