True which is why I would love to get my hands on a TITAN. But lest face it. People using GPU's for offline rendering is about as niche as the they come. And trust me you can make 4GB go a hell of a long way in that application. Even 2GB will allow for a lot of stuff and you can all ways split thing up in to layers to free up more memory.

i just wondered if anyone heard any rumors. As far as my display goes i will be ditching the 1080p tv for either 3way monitors or maybe just a high res monitor. I actually modded my skyrim so much it eats a little over 3gbs and max payn 3 used more than that. In most cases 4gbs is overkill but in some rare cases i need that high vram. Also i understand that vram is not the most important thing in a video card. I am not that noob lol, i have my 680s with a 150mhz core oc and memory clock is 200mhz oc. I Just kind of feel that when the vram doubles what i have its usually means that card will be a good jump in speed across the board. Heck my old gtx 570 with 1.25gbs of vram beat my friends 560ti with 2gbs of ram by a decent amount. Like i said its just worked out for me that every time i see a card with double the vram its more than likely a price worthy upgrade. I guess i should explain my logic before i ask ? that make me seem a little misinformed.

The new k20 tesla card from Nvidia has 12GB of vram.

$5-8k though.

If you are using it for work though that is a nice tax write off!

But ya if you need a work card why not look at tesla or firepro?

yea i knew they had those was thinking more along the lines of say the future gtx 880 or maybe a new titan if that ever comes to be lol. I guess really no one can answer this question just wondering if any rumors are floating around. I remember when the titan was in rumor stage. The rumored specs were pretty close to what it really is. Cant really bank on that tho.

I read it on another forum, but it made sense to me, that the reason why the memory is limited to 2, 3, 4, and 6 is because of the structure of the architecture.
So it is a little more complex than just "adding" more ram. I'm not savvy with those details though.

But I think 3 GB will be the high end for Gamer cards for a long time. The Titan and specific Dual GPU models being the exception.
