What part of:

"At this time, there is no known benefit to DX11.1 over DX11"

Are you not understanding?

There is no forcing happening.
Based on what we know now, If you dont have 8, and you buy it to get access to 11.1 you deserve to have your money taken from you.

Stop spreading false info.

They support all 3D gaming features of 11.1 and don't support some 2D features, which means for gaming it would be fine.

I payed $40 for the windows 7 pro upgrade, and then payed $40 again for the windows 8 pro upgrade. The first was a download I had to burn to DVD, the second is a boxed disc.

QFT.

As someone who has relatively broad experience with desktop UIs (dos, windows 3.x, gnome, kde, enlightenment, awesome, xmonad, dwm, openbox, unity, kde, gnome 2/3, etc...), I strongly prefer the start screen to the start menu. I have trouble finding any real reason to prefer it the other way outside of just being resistant to change. The only advantage I can see with the start menu is that you can have both it and an application visible, so if that sounds like something that is a requirement for your workflow, stick with 7 or look at 3rd party start menus.

Herp, still "Windows R lame" threads...

Thread Starter
Will 700 series support 11.2? Yes, Windows 8 is lame because I don't feel like paying another 130 bucks for an operating system that looks exactly like Windows 7 with the exception of a new ugly start up screen made for touch screen monitors.
