here are your option for a cpu upgrade:

Keep Mobo and get used 2500k/2600k/3570k/3770k (I'd grab a used 2500k or 2600k, they are cheaper and will be able to drop right in)

OR

New MoBo Z87 LGA 1150 and a 4670k/4770k

Edit: Ya, what PSU do you have, I assume it is 450w+
I see, I think it'll last a bit longer when I don't over-do it. Thanks a lot!

well CAPsy you got a pretty good build already, not really a massive boost unless you decide to go for the more extreme cpu's

a new GPU may be nice but only if you think you need it

SSD's for your video editing and general awesome speed of the system will be a great help
Samsung have just released the EVO series, which are priced agressively in the UK their 1TB drive is around £500 thats 50p/GB

Most SSD manufacturers do a great range but do check before buying. Expect some big price drops on outgoing models in the coming weeks.

For the love of all that is holy peoples. Samsung ain't the end-all-be-all of SSD manufacturers. In fact, these two drives rival or actually surpass the Samsung 840 Pro/Evo, and are currently only $100.

Heck, even the Corsair Neutron GTX (Link) rivals the 840 Pro/Evo. And is only ~$120, and generally lower with frequent sales.

Unless you are some sort of insane person, you aren't going to notice jack-all of a difference in performance between all of the drives I mentioned. And for the common user, even something as low end of the scale as an 840 would be just fine (although I'd go with the Vector/M5P right now considering they are literally $10 more for much better write speeds).

And every single drive I linked or talked about is reliable. VERY reliable.

This Samsung or nothing BS for SSDs is starting to get ridiculous.

Samsung for me between the 4 different manufactures of SSD's I've had, the Sammy was the only one to hold up regardless of how many reformatts it's been through.

of course kinaesthetic is right, I was just using Samsung as an example especially since they just raised the bar on pricing along with crucial putting their 960GB drive out cheap the market is in for a shuffle

stick with current mobo, then buy new gpu whichever fits your budget. then get a 2500k or 26---they already said this above!

...athough for 1500usd you can just buy a new rig, and use your current rig as a backup/torrent/etc rig
