America is not a manufacturing based economy any more. It is more a technology/information economy now.
That's not entirely true either. America isn't a technology economy. Asia is still the bastion of IC manufacturing and all electronics. Information is arguable. America does still have a lot of industrial manufacturing like steel, automotive, and other heavy duty stuff.
High tech manufacturing? Not so much.
No, but America is where the technology is primarily sold market wise. It may or may not be the place where most tech is sold, but it is where the public markets around the world even get a glimpse of these products. NA, and Britain are the main reasons why the technology industry is booming as they are the 'information highway'. These two markets is why the technology economy is even functioning. Asia might seem to be where everything gets held, but frankly, they follow off these 2 markets. It's been like that for nearly 50 years, and many generations before that; and it was the same for the music, movie, and every media/trade market there was. Yup, most development is done by a wide audience, from many countries and ethnic groups that cater in Asia, but it is not because of those countries but rather the environment they sit in and the people that work under the grounds not limited by boarders.
