No, there is nothing for the ring to screw onto.The top screws onto the bottom part of a compression fitting.

And I've always thought the top screws over the hose, and the reason it stays is because it "clamps" the hose down on the barb...

Well crap...

Now I might aswell go trade up to the V Extreme so I can voltmod my ASUS 780's...
