Hi there. I got a Haf X case with all the fans in it, and i´m about to buy a gtx 780.

My question is:

Should i buy a reference card, which is a little bit cheaper,
or it REALLY worth spending thye money on an aftermarket one.

I mean.

Would there be a big temp / noice difference?

The reference card coudl be any brand, the aftermarket would be the one from MSI. Since that cheapest here in Denmark.

Noise, a little bit yes, more importantly is how much do you care about overclocks? It depends on the resolution you are running if it matters if you need to overclock the card or not. However, getting something that can be software volt modded like the classified or the MSI Lightning that is coming out will insure you can get some decent clocks out of the card as long as its a decent chip.

you should buy one with aftermarket cooler since you have case with good cooling
reason why you should buy aftermarket cooled gpus are (only if you have good airflow)
more quieter
more cooler running thus likely to last longer
more overclock
usually have more features

since you have haf x, you could get gtx 780 gaming or wait for gtx 780 lightning

How long would the lighting take to launch? and won't it be more expensive?

I'm choosing MSI because it's the cheapest aftermarket in Denmark.

I actually don't know when lightning will be available
but i know that cheaper gaming card is available

yeah MSI just offically announced it's release date. It´s thye 7th August. However, i wonder how much more expensive it would be :/

Very very likely to be 699, 50 more than a reference card since this is directly competing with the EVGA Classified.

Hmm kk. i gonna buy the MSI GTX 780 Gaming tomomorrow then. I figures out the lightning would be great for water cooling, since you can clock it much higher with voltage, but with air, i think the Gaming edition would be the best smile.gif
