Prestone antifreeze

Thread Starter
Ok my tank is totaly empty but there is still enough fluid to run threw all my tubes and blocks so the watercooler will run. But i will have to refill the tank. I am really dreading pulling everything out. I have the antifreeze the system came with could i mix that with prestone antifreeze and it be okay(of course distilled water also.)

As long as you don't have bubbles going through your loop then you should be fine. I'd just use distilled water and not worry about the antifreeze. You already has coolant in your loop anyway. There's no sense in putting more than needed. It'll only put more stress on your pump.

I would just add distilled water to what's already in there. If you mix 2 different Anti freeze types, you could get a reaction.

so i also thought of something considering the tank is empty because i didnt have the cap on right, and everything evaporated. So wouldent the chemicals of the antifreeze still be left behind, so when i add the water itd be pretty much the same as i started

Most of it probably evapped to...If your really concerned just drain it, fill it full of distilled water, run for a few hours, drain again and re-fill with whatever mix you want...

Not much...Like everyone has said just top it off with distilled water...It will be fine....You need to drain it every year or so any way and change the fluid out..A lot of people just use distilled water in there loop...

just FYI, water removes heat better than antifreeze. the only reason you use antifreeze in a water cooled system is to prevent freezing, and to counter the corroding effects of water.
